Why are we looking for digital lawyers?
For years we have seen the need for legal professionals who, on the one hand, are close to technology and the digital world. In addition, they are specialized in commercial law, intellectual property oriented to the day-to-day life of the companies that provide digital services and products.
In the first years of the company’s life, it was impossible to find this type of office. Therefore, legal documents were recycled from other sectors or services, but never intended by and for our market and our type of activity.
This causes nervousness and fear when approaching projects and new business ventures since you do not feel covered or protected at the legal level.
And now that?
For a few years now, as a result of entrepreneurship and startups, numerous firms have emerged in Spain oriented and focused on helping 100% digital companies such as Possible. These companies help to draft and prepare all the necessary documents to develop activities and services related to this sector, or to seek financing with crowfunding models or venture capital companies etc …
Along these lines, in 2020 we set out to find an office with which we felt that we spoke the same language and that understood not only our needs but also our service and what we do (something that is not always easy to explain and understand if you do not have a minimum command of the concepts of digital technology).
Which?
As a result of the search, we contacted several offices on this line. Here are the three that for us were the best in terms of speech, domain of the sector, testimonials and experience:
We found all three great, very good disposition, communication and domain of the sector. All have participated in investment rounds, join Ventures contracts between digital companies. They also manage and understand the type of “software factory” service that we provide from Possible and typical problems in a turnkey or product development contract.
Any of the three seemed powerful and valid for a company like us, but as always we have to decide and in the end we have decided to work with Metricson. Although we have been in contact with them for a short time, at the moment we are very happy with the results and the work done.
In the future?
Well, in the medium term what we want is to cover a series of legal needs that we have especially at the level of contracts. This is especially the case for our customers in the UK, the US and other European countries. In these countries the law is completely different and you have to make adaptations and concessions at certain points. Then the idea is to reinforce the contracts like the typical confidentiality agreement to be able to exchange information before making a commercial proposal. Other issues to be reinforced are the pre-contract models for the incorporation of new workers remotely 100% or contracts for contracting partners or technology providers.
Unfortunately for companies (or luck for law firms), more and more laws are having an impact on companies like Possible. Today it is very necessary to have an office that advises companies to protect themselves in the best way and have all the responsibilities and actions required in the different departments covered by current laws.
